Blaze by Jocelynn Drake6/30/2023 ![]() I loved the struggles portrayed as well as realizing the past can not hurt you unless you let it. But all in all it was a decent read with a fair amount of drama, action and love for all to keep reading.įacing their pasts was hard for both Snow and Lucas who left many years before and found a new family for themselves. There were times I wanted to get to the good stuff, action, and there were others were I wanted to know more about what was going on. Not so in this tale as it’s about Lucas and the gang, wedding plans and a visit to Snow and Lucas’ hometown. Review: Let me start off by saying usually I am not a fan of using the same MC’s from another book in a separate book because well honestly you learn most all you need to know about them in the first book so the second seems lacking. ![]() Now, they’re in a race to track down a killer, keep a young girl safe, and get Lucas back in time to say, “I do.”. But the danger is worse than they expected. Against his better judgement, Lucas and his best friend, Ashton Frost, plan a fast trip back to the one place they swore they’d never go: their hometown in Oklahoma. There’s just one small problem.Ī ghost from Lucas’s past shows up days before the wedding, desperate for help. ![]() Lucas Vallois and Andrei Hadeon are finally ready to walk down the aisle. ![]() Publisher: Jocelyn Drake and Rinda Elliott (June 22 2018)Īnd the pre-wedding sex is off the charts… ![]()

Battlepug6/30/2023 ![]() The giant beasts are the creation of sorcerer Catwulf, who has a malevolent masterplan to control the world’s magic. It’s not quite infallible, though, as it’s still noticeable that the opening section is episodic and thrashing around as a fearsome barbarian warrior attempts to find a purpose in life after his home town of Kinmundy was destroyed by a giant seal. ![]() Over the opening section the novelty of a giant pug dog with that cute face and those sorrowful eyes carries the story a long way, especially combined with Norton’s lush and detailed cartooning. ![]() Battlepug’s had a good run considering it began when Norton was asked to contribute an illustration of a creator-owned project, realised he didn’t have one and submitted a barbarian warrior astride a giant pug dog. Three years after the final landscape edition of this good-natured sword and sorcery pastiche, Mike Norton compiled all five volumes for this Compugnium. ![]()

![]() She offers credible interpretations of undocumented aspects of the Boleyn legend (such as Anne's sixth finger) and convincingly depicts Anne as she manipulates Henry to divorce Katherine, break with his chief advisor Cardinal Wolsley and abandon the Catholic Church. Barnes lucidly envisions the well-documented events of Henry VIII's second wife's brilliant short-lived career: her education in manners, dress and dance at the French court her tutoring in political scheming by powerful relatives who wish to be more powerful still her determination not to end up a discarded royal mistress like her older sister. ![]() The current Tudormania makes Barnes' historical fiction (My Lady of Cleves, etc.) as welcome today as in 1949, when this novel first appeared. ![]()

George lincoln bardo6/30/2023 ![]() ![]() In Saunders' imagining, the spirit of Willie is able to re-enter his body while his father holds him. Saunders crafts the plot around the fact that after Willie's body was placed in a borrowed tomb, Lincoln returned to the crypt several times to hold his son. Lincoln was one of the saddest, most sensitive souls that they ever witnessed. We learn he's also talking to a child, and that child turns out to be the recently deceased Willie, son of Abraham Lincoln. ![]() "And so our plan must be deferred, while I recovered," he explains to his friend, Roger Bevins III. He explains, "On our wedding day I was forty-six, she was eighteen." Rather than force himself on his young bride, he proposed that they be "friends." Under this no-pressure system, she gradually warms up to him and invites him to "expand the frontiers of our happiness together in that intimate way to which I am, as yet, a stranger." But just when Hans' hopes are about to be fulfilled, he's crushed by a falling beam at his printing office and placed in a "sick-box" in the parlor. ![]() The book starts with a monologue by a speaker named Hans Vollman. ![]() Each of Saunders' sentences are exquisitely composed, swiftly bringing you into the hearts of his strange, fascinating characters. The only thing you can do is listen keenly for a while, until you begin to make out the contours of the situation. Opening Lincoln in the Bardo is like alighting suddenly on an unfamiliar moonscape, where disembodied voices are already deep in conversation. Lincoln in the Bardo, by George Saunders (Handout) ![]()

The devil in the winter6/30/2023 ![]() Vincent was so vindictive and cold when we first met him, but Lisa Kleypas was able to make that odd pair up work so well in this story that I found myself cheering on for the couple. ![]() ![]() Vincent and Evangeline Jenner and I will admit that I thought that the match was a little odd because Evie is so shy and Lord St. Well, when I read this book, I was just blown away by how Lisa Kleypas was able to make the former notorious rake into quite a charming and kindhearted hero of this story! I honestly loved the couple Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent after he kidnapped Lillian Bowman and I was wondering to myself about how Sebastian would be able to redeem himself after that fiasco. After reading "It Happened One Autumn", I kind of did not have any feelings for Sebastian, Lord St. ![]() |
